About a month ago, me, my wife, and son took a hike back into SGL 51. Actually, we were geocaching. On the road back in we saw many bear tracks. If anyone wants to hunt bear there, let me know. I don't hunt bear, and I really don't know the area well. I could take you up there and show you around some. When we got back to the geocache, this is what we found. This is an old millstone quarry. There are stones scattered about the area in different stages of production. No one knows why the workers left without finishing the stones. It is estimated to have been a working quarry before the Civil War.

There are a lot of bears in this area. In fact the PA State record bear was taken here two seasons ago.

Buck I've hunted bear up thee and you got to have your walking shoes on and lots of sleep before the opener.
You are all correct that area holds an excellent number of bear you just have to be willing to work for them.

This might help There were several sets of tracks, one was bigger than this one. I never hunted for bear, and I never paid that much attention to their tracks. Last year while hunting my sisters farm, i found some trees broken off by bears to get to the berries on the tops. A couple of years ago, her weiner dog was barking in the woods and then let out a loud cry. It came running back covered in blood. It survived the bear attack and is still covered by thick, ughly scars. So, I know there are bears in the area.

My wife and I were out shooting at the range on SGL #206 yesterday and decided to take the long way home. We did a couple of caches along the way and also ran into these two grouse doing a dance in the middle of the road. Watched them for about 15 minutes from our Jeep. Took the pictures with my cell phone camera.
