Good luck to all heading out tomorrow!! Calling for rain & high winds here...blowing good out right now. Still heading out, can't wait!! Myself, Buddy, Justin, Darryl and Chris (owns Outpost Archery) are hitting it first thing in the AM with Tara, Jesse and Buck, sadly, my old mac dog will not accompany us this year, his age and old injuries have caught up with him & he can no longer hunt.

Well, not as bad as it was last night this AM. Ended up being just me & Buddy & Justin for a bit, they got birds (forgot pics) and left to deer hunt at Buddies camp, so I ventured out by myself for a bit longer. Today, I deserve to wear the hat of shame(or a swift kick in the rear if'n you ask the dogs)......we put up 4 roosters, a grouse and 3 hens & I missed EVERY one of them!! I know I shoot bad, but every bird was textbook point & flush, easy shots, I am officially the worlds worst wingshooter. Rained on and off, only managed a couple pics, Jesse backing Tara (had to get down to get Tara in it, excuse Jesse bum) A nice divided find (and one of the few points not in heavy cover), Jesse has got some nice style & intensity for a babe, don't let his size fool you, he's only 5 mnths old & as big as momma. This was a rooster, wish I woulda got him!!

Thanks for your great pics Anne, I always enjoy seeing them. Sorry to hear about the older guy, what is the average age when a GSP can no longer hunt?

Thanks for your great pics Anne, I always enjoy seeing them. Sorry to hear about the older guy, what is the average age when a GSP can no longer hunt? Usually around 10 or so, I have seen them hunt until 12. Mac would still be able to go, but he broke a rear leg several years ago, the vet put a cast on to constricting, cut off the blood supply & he almost lost the leg. It is now weak & causing him issues, he is also 12 yrs old, but if not for the leg is in good shape otherwise. His father just passed away at almost 16.
