Well..sort of ;D (got one, but missed about 7 easy shots )
Got out after work today for a few hours, what a day!! Hit a spot first we didn't go Saturday, wasn't long before Jesse was locked up:
This bird (rooster) ran down into the thick stuff t o Jesse left, got it pointed again, but it flushed behind cover to thick for a shot. Put up 2 more here, one flushed to far & the other I missed. Also had a grouse pointed here. Jesse went on point by the edge of a small ravine, in pretty open woods, him being a pup, I figured he was pointing a chippy or squirrel he saw running, boy was I wrong! The grouse flushed in a very open area...I was holding my at my side & just couldn;t get on it in time.
Off to spot 2, got Tara out this time, a nice field:
Worked about 20 minutes & then:
This was a hen, I missed it. Not long after, she worked a runner all the way up the field, another rooster, finally got him pinned, but didn't have a shot, he flushed into some thick tree cover. After another 20 minutes or so, Tara locked up again by the pines & 2 roosters went up, opposite side of the pines & flying into the sun, this shot, I make LOL! ;D
On the way in we put up 2 woodcock as well along a swampy treeline (she had one pointed within a minute of me letting her out, I didnt even have my vest on or gun out yet!)
Got Jesse out again for spot 3, he had a very nice point on another grouse (missed!) and another rooster, in all, we put up 7 roosters, 1 hen, 2 woodcock and 3 grouse tonight, not bad, heck I even got one! ;D ;D
