The walleye fishing has been great for me lately. Nothing I like better than fishing for eyes in December with a snow storm coming in. I got three nice walleye, two monster carp, probably 40 or 45 lbs collectively and three or four smallies. All caught on a white jig head with a chartreuse power bait twister tail and tipped with a small trapped shiner. Lots of guys over complicate the fishing process with expensive stuff that looks pretty on the shelf or a web page. I have been getting excellant results with an inexpensive combination of items for 20 years. I have made a couple adjustments along the way and at this point it is a deadly fish catchin' set up. 1/8 oz white lead head jig with/eyes 20¢, Chartreuse Powerbait Twister tail 20¢. Tip this with a small 2-3 inch, free (trap them your self) shiner. This combo has accounted for the lions share of the river fish that I catch from October until the end of May year in and year out. Walleye, Smallies, even the big musky in my avatar fell for this simple little set up. Think about it the next time you break off a pretty (and expensive) lure on a rock or log. FM
