My buck from this year in archery
Well if any one wants to read the story of me getting this buck just bear with me. It was the morning of the second saturday of october. I woke up early in the morning and went to wake my dad up he took one look outside and said nothing will be out and went back to sleep. Just to mention Longbeard and truegrit decided to sleep in too. It was a moonlit morning, no clouds in the sky, the moon was a huge night light you could see just about everything in the woods and it was chilly with a little bit of a frost. Well I got ready and drove my truck back to the farm by the pond and parked then walked to my treestand. While I'm sitting up there, there's no noise, you can't hear anything moving around and you can hear every little move and leaf move. After a while I hear some leaves crunching. I can't see anymore than about 50 yards infront of me. It's a deer walking down the trail, its a buck and I'm able to count points between a space in the trees. I count enough points for him to be legal and I pull back, the buck stopped since he heard the carbon arrow on the whisker biscuit. When he stopped I was debating if i could put the arrow between the space in the trees and after about 45 secs he started walking again. When his head was behind a low branch of a small tree I had a shot at his chest and I took it. The arrow went a little high and hit him just at the bottom of his spine and he fell over like a ton of bricks, this is at 15 yards away. He was kicking around and I didn't know what to do so I just grabbed another arrow and let loose when I saw brown in the sight it sliced his loin about 2/3 back. Then after he kicked some more and move about a yard or two I put another arrow in him that sliced his heart. Still at 15 yards away and he moves his neck and stretches out and lets out this odd kind of grunt/groan. I made myself wait 15 minutes after he last moved to get out of the tree stand. While I'm up there I'm guessing at how many points he has all I know is that he got 4 on one side. I figured that he wasn't a huge buck but a good size one. Well after those 15 minutes I get down and walk over to him and man I wasn't excited while shooting him but seeing his rack sure did get my blood going. After 5 or 10 minutes of marveling over him I call my dad and ask him if he wants to mount a 13 point, so he comes and helps me drag it out and it was one big bodied deer, good thing we didn't have to drag it far. He's getting mounted at Wolf's I should have him by the end of June. He has a 18 inch inside spread, 20 inch outside, his highest tine was 9 1/4 in. He has nice mass all over. He scored 144 safari. His busted drop tine is only about a half inch but you can hang a ring on it so I'm counting it, so that make 13. I don't think I'm going to be able to beat this buck, he's the biggest taken off the farm.
