while hunting on Wednesday of the second week this year my dad shot what he thought was a mature doe. It was a buck that had already shed both antlers - kind of a shame it would probably have been a very nice buck next year any body else ever done this??

Congrats to your dad on his deer. Too bad about the antler loss. Have you guys searched around that hunting area for the sheds ? I have heard of this type of incident happening before, up here in Ontario. Last year, several hunters, while dragging their bucks out of the woods, pulled the antlers from their bucks heads in December.

we havent searched around to much buy Im sure i will be in the area coyote hunting and I always keep an eye pealed for sheds and skulls so maybe Ill luck into somethin out there --- I heard of another monster buck shot in the area that the hunter pulled the one side off of while draging it out this year --- does it have somethin to do with an unseasonably warm fall this year? does anybody know the factors that make deer start droping antlers

I know of two factors, one being stress in the herd and the other poor nutrition. Good luck finding the sheds and smoke some yotes .
