Well, I was out last Friday afternoon checking in some cedars and found one small shed. I discovered later that my cell phone fell out of my coat pocket in there some where. I'm going back there tomorrow to find the other side/shed and my cell phone. LOL. Here in southern Ontario, the snow has been melting fairly quickly with no snow in the fields and about a foot left in most of the woods. Temps are in the + 10 to15C range. I will be shed hunting this weekend for sure and checking the trail cam which I have setup back at my favorite spot.

tracer congrads on the shed! Deep snow makes it like looking for needles in a hay stack!! I hope you find your phone, Thats always one of my biggest concerns while shedding, I always take the small Flo. orange stickers that use on my archery targets and put them all over the front and back of my cell (where ever possible) it helps make it stick out like a sore thumb, then when Im done they just peel right off. Good luck on Friday and post pics. Pike

Thanks sorefoot!! My hunting bud's laughed at me the first time they saw me sitting at the kitchen table putting stickers on my phone!! Then one of them lost their brand new blackberry.
tracer, dont know the reason you need encouragement to get another dog, but if your going thru what I did, I completely understand. Last July 4th while I was in OH., my dog Yukon passed in his sleep at the age of 13, his health was going down hill and I knew it wouldnt be long before I had to make that heart breaking trip to the vet. Well for months I didnt even want to think about another dog, thought It would be betraying Yukon some how, but my 8 year old daughter really wanted a puppy (the reason he has a purple collar and big red heart for a ID. tag in all the pics) and I decided I could bring myself to replace Yukon as long as we adopted a puppy from the SPCA or Rescue. I still call Mojo, Yukon all the time but Im glad we got Mojo , He will never replace Yukon but there is room for both in my heart. Pike

I found it ! The cell phone that is, laying in the bare ground after a 1/2 hr of searching. Fortunately the sun was shinning on the 3 1/2 x 1 3/4 object, as I checked one last deer trail . No shed finds but you only get so much luck at one time LOL.
Thankyou sorefoot and pike, after my black lab Murphy(12) passed a year a go, I have been thinking of getting another lab, maybe this summer. That's a good idea pike about adopting a dog.

I've been out looking for elk sheds and so far no luck. I did a ton of paying attention to tracks and trails when checking my cams in the snow. Its a lot easier to determine how often and how many deer are traveling as well as where they are traveling when there is snow on the ground. They have logged off part of the area behind my house twice in 3 years, so I am learning the new patterns of the deer.

tracer glad you found your phone! If it wasnt for my daughter asking for a new puppy for her birthday, Holloween, Thanksgiving, X-mas, Valentines Day (which I finally broke down for) I still wouldnt have been able to bring myself to get a new pup. Pike

I'm hoping to hike some every Sunday looking for sheds. Things have been pretty busy for me the last couple weeks.
