Well what do you guys think of this years prospects? Here is my take on it... 1.I like Isaic Redman. Looked good last preseason, very good this preseason and they said he had great training camps both years... PLAY THE MAN THIS YEAR! At least as the 2nd back to Mendenhall (underacheiver). Mewelde moore CANNOT run the ball very well, and definately not up the middle. His role should be limited to short outlet passes, he has good hands. 2.Liked Mike Wallace recieving last year, and have no doubt he'll be better this year. 3.Not looking for much from Randal El. But should be an ok 3rd or 4th reciever i guess. 4. That rookie, Brown, looks to have great speed and reciever potential for the future. 5. Ben is without a doubt a top 5 qb in this league. If i hear one more uneducated to football moron say Dennis Dixon should be starter even when Bens back on a call-in show, i think im gonna throw up. 6. QB position is about as good as Pittsburghs ever had it. Ben, and byron & Dixon at 2nd and 3rd string.... Compare to Batch & St. Pierre as the backups. lol.

Yeah, they're gonna be a tough win with 3rd string QB Dixon starting for Pitt.

So what will be the collective excuse when Baby Ben comes back and they are still losing?
Edit: I will say Randal El was a smart move to bring back. I think if given a chance he's a solid 2nd or 3rd receiver. I honestly think the only reason Ben is as good as he is on the stats is he is big enough to be difficult to tackle. I've seen too many times they won't blow the whistle for "in the grasp" with Ben and the LB's and such are trying not to get whistled for roughing. Take away hsi size and he's a 2nd stringer at best.

Imho, Randle El is a position filler that they picked up very cheap, and little else at this point in his career. I know hes been thrown to a couple of times...Dont know if he even has a catch yet. His best days were in Pittsburgh years ago, and his main usage was kick return where he was fair, and gadget plays, that he did well. But that accounted for few plays. Even in his prime, he was a third reciever while at pittsburgh previously. Hes not ever gonna be a go to guy, like ward or Wallace. But past Ward & Wallace, hopefully Brown, the very fast rookie will step up.
With Ben comes back, they have one of the best in the league coming back. Compare to Batch or Dixon? lol. Bens an accurate quarterback, a big physical guy, and usually makes smart decisions. Having broken most of the teams/bradshaws qb records pretty much speaks for itself imho. Might be a few qbs on the same level as he, but id only pick Peyton, brady or Brees ahead of him if i were building a team right this moment.
Theres also no reason to blow the whistle on "in the grasp" when 80% of the time when he is in the grasp he ends up throwing a pass or breaking free, and the officials know this. Same way with some of the other bigger stronger qbs who arent afraid of getting hangnails unlike Manning, Romo, etc. The reason for the whistle on in the grasp, is that in the judgement of the official the chance for success of the play has ceased, and therefore no reason to risk injury to the player. I think most would agree, i dont think holding Ben around the legs for less than 2 seconds qualifies as might be the case with a less physical guy like peyton manning who falls if anyone touches him with a pinky finger. lol. ;D
As for record, i figured them for 2-2 or 3-1 till ben got back. I havent been impressed with the Falcons last couple years, and knew they had a very decent shot at beating them. was concerned with Tennessee, but figured theyd beat Tampa since they only won like 1 or 2 games all last year. Ravens i had thought could be a loss. With the way the defense is playing now, i wouldnt be surprised to go 4-0, but would guess for 3 and 1 now if i were to bet.
I wouldnt have liked to see them play new england, the second game at Ravens, Jets, 2 with Cinci, and New England with Dixon Batch or Leftwich. All games faced by Ben when he gets back.

Ravens are a solid team. No shame in losing to them, especially with a third string QB playing for Pitt. As close as the game ended up being, i have little doubt what the outcome wouldve been if Ben had been in.

How many games last yr did we win by J. Reed kicking a field goal quite a few for sure. Its early yet and J. Reed is to say missing quite a few allready 2 in the last game. He makes both we win by 3 and his field goal.

Well, Reed wont be missing anymore. He is now history. His comments about the field, management, fans, his missing so much lately, and his pathetic kick offs have gotten him exactly what he deserves.
On another note, sure was bad how the Pats handed them their backsides. So many injuries probably played a role.

Sure injuries played a role in it. 8 seconds left left in the 2nd quarter and your throwing a hail mary pass instead of putting 3 up on the board. Hope these injuries start coming back Ward is back allready.

Yeah, but the offensive line is devastated with injuries. It wasnt good to begin with, now its horrible. Max starks out for the year, Willie Colon out for the year, Kemeatu currently out...
Then we have Aaron smith out for the year again, Kiesel has been out, Timmons out, heck we couldnt even trade out that screwup goofus William Gay after he kept getting burnt for the backup corner, Butler, because he was out hurt!
