I havent been up to the higher elevations, but dont imagine even there the ice would be close to thick enough yet with the temps not having been too low for very long.
Gonna try and make it a point to go a time or two with a bud who has some new ice fishin' gear. Gonna hafta wait till dead time of winter and when hopefully ice is thick.

We have some good ice in the northeast. Still hunting season so maybe this Sunday I will punch a few holes. I seen guys out but did not stop to chat. My brother hit one spot and reported 4 inches of ice but not bite on.

Should be some pretty good ice fishin' up there at highpoint. Fished it a few times in warmer weather, 4 of us in two boats caught several pike, perch, pickerel one bass & a few crappie in our last trip.
But man the wind! I hear its ALWAYS windy up there.

Yeah the wind is crazy up there. the last time i was up i only caught 1 pike but it was sizeable. i was fishing from the bank which i wouldnt recommend if you're going to high point take a boat.
