Quick question. I am current us army and i am just wondering does anyone else think this move is a little drastic and sudden to pull EVERYONE out of a country that is still not 100% stable? I am glad my fellow bros and sisters in arms are home for the holidays but at what cost? will iraq just end up emploding in civil war and if they do what does that mean for us. Will we be heading back. I dont believe any of this has been answered and i know there are a lot more questions

davisdeerhunter first let me say thank you for your service. the drawdown has been going on for the last year, its not like they blew the whistle and yelled everybody out of the pool. granted that by pulling our troops out it creates a power vaccume but i think its time that iraq stands on its own two feet and police its own country and not rely on us. there are still troops in kuait if needed but hopefully the iraqi's can handle things without us

I agree with strech, Well put. I myself don't really have an answer for that because to be honest I have no clue what it is even like over there. To judge my opinion from tv would be completly out of line because they share what they want you to hear. In my eyes we need fellows like you to tell US what you think. Thanks also for your service!

i have several friends in the millitary, most of them have been to iraq or afganastan. one of my best friends is a U.S. Marine and is preparing to ship out for his fourth tour in afganastan in feb. he aslo served three tours in iraq. i talked to him and here is what he said about the troops leaving, "its like a kid learning to ride a bike sooner or latter you have to take off the training wheels, let go of the seat and let them ride. if they fall help them back up. they will figure it out.

One reason we're out right now is because of legal differences between the Iraq government and US Military over who has right of prosecution over an American soldier. US govt was not prepared to let US soldiers be under jurisdiction of a foreign government. So, we're gawn.
