It is so important to go to a reputable Archery Shop and have them set up your draw length. there is so many ways of determining your draw length. If you go by some calculations from your arm span from fingertip to fingertip. Mine for example is 74". If you go by dividing it by 2.5 you get 29.5 in draw length. my draw length I feel comfortable and most accurate is 27". I have tried 28-29" draw lengths. I can not hold steady, no back tension, over extended and can't hit the broad side of a barn. It all depends on body type. So I may be one of the 10% than doesn't fit the norm. Being an archery tech for more than 25 years I've learned to go with what feels the best for the individual. Once a person has been shooting for a while or maybe your body changes with time. The draw length will change. You must be willing to try different things. I've had hundreds of young men come into my shop and tell me they have 29 and 30 inch draw lengths. 90% of them is not even 5' 8" tall. They are so worried about speed. I tell them a fast miss is still a miss. My main thing I attempt to show a person when coaching them is to start with a draw that is a little too short and go from there. I have them shoot that way for each setup for about a week. For each change I'll increase the draw 1/8". Observe their accuracy until their groups start opening up to over 5 inches at 20 yards. Then I'll shorten the draw by 8th inch increments until their groups starts shrinking again to under 3 inch groups. After shooting for a while and working on your shooting form (which will change over time) then and only then make your changes in your draw length. Don't be afraid to tinker with your setup. Until you actually know what you are doing have your archery tech make the changes for you. Good luck!
