See if you can find a tap of the correct thread and diameter and run it down through. Probably got some crud in there or even cross threaded it the last time you put it in. Maybe even got the wrong touch-hole last time or it was made wrong? Stuff happens.

Sometimes they seize up from the heat its like being rusted. What kind you got the uncle mikes touch hole or the original. If its uncle mikes set the hex star in it and give it a good whack and that sometimes jars it loose.

I have tried the tap,I am paranoid about the cross threading and always extremely careful. I started with uncle mike's, I went back to original. Thinking the barrel threads may be wearing?

If the tap went in clean and the touch-hole was iffy...Well, I'd just put it in and leave it in. I clean my T/C Hawken with it in and I don't worry about it. It's 40 yrs old.

I agree, No need to remove touch hole when cleaning! Don't worry about it just let it in.

I would never leave a touch hole in a black powder gun.I take mine out every time I clean it and it needs cleaned. My brother built a renegade from a kit back in the mid 80's.He didn't take his out to clean and one time tried taking it out because he forgot to put powder down the barrel. We had to get it out with an EZ out and retap the treads. The threads were completely coroded.I also have an RMC accusported with a removeable breech plug. The fouling gets in those threads as well.

Put a ball down with out powder use a ball puller. My custom gun the touch hole can't come out. If you clean it right you don't need to remove it. TC/hawkens 50 cal. 22 years of firing no problems. Custom Lancaster 45 cal. hundreds of shots in match shoots. No problems. For each his own I guess!

We tried a ball puller at the time put he was using .020 patcher with a .535 round ball. You had to beat the ball to get it down and a ball puller would just pull right out.
No matter how you clean a BP gun, residue is going to work into the threads,if the gun has a removeable touch hole.It takes a few second to unscrew the touchhole and a few more to put it back in.To me,it's a no-brainer.

I use anti seize I get at the auto parts store for a few bucks per tube. It's used on engine bolts and other heat involved bolts. I've never had a touch hole liner seize up with this.
