planted some oaks again last year didnt this year....the ones from 5 years ago are doing ok....its time PA....goes to planting apple trees again..... Need some trees? While it may be winter, now is the time for landowners to begin making plans to help wildlife by to planting tree and shrub seedlings offered by the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Howard Nursery in Centre County. The program starts on Tuesday and runs through April. Order forms and information are available on the game commission website at www.pgc.state.pa.us under the "General Store" icon. "Seedlings that are available for purchase by landowners are suitable for a variety of uses, such as wildlife food and cover, watershed protection, soil erosion control, and for reclamation of disturbed areas, such as surface mine site and utility right-of-ways," said Annetta Ayers, the nursery superintendent. The nursery sells seedlings in bundles of 25. Orders of 12 or more total units receive discounted pricing. Prices are as low as $3.75 per unit of 25 seedlings. Yes, that's 15 cents each. Even Johnny Appleseed would have liked those prices.

Just bury them in an area that gets decent sun.I think you'll be amazed how many will be gone by the first winter.

That's when you have to put the tube around them saw it up in Forest Co. in the 80s nothing new. Just want to grow a couple trees to help the wildlife no food plots for me, although where I hunt if I asked the folks they would say go ahead. Theres different mortalities to doug theres those seedlings that just dont make it period.

They are fenced out but they are also clear cut the sunshine has a lot to do with trees and just because the trees are growing doesn't mean they are healthy I was in one a week and a half ago and a lot of trees that sprouted up were dead they broke off when I touched them.
