These are two beautiful pieces, Loggy. I think I'm ready to consider a "rainy day" back up rifle for the early season. I'll continue to rely on my .54 cal. flintlock, but after spending a full day last year during the October season with it tucked under my arm pit, or resting muzzle down on a ziplock sandwich bag, I think I'll look at something American made, open sights, cheap, but reliable. Any suggestions?

thompson center thunderhawk great ml I have one in 50 cal. walnut stock great shooting gun. I been in rain, sleet and snow storms and it never let me down.I only have one problem the last few years it sits in the gun safe, just love the flinters, but when it rains it does hit the woods.I find 80 grains of triple 777 and a buffalo SSB 375 grain will clover leaf groups at the 100 yd. target, yet to see a deer walk from this load.I think this up in comming season would like to see what groups it will print at 150 yds, right now she is 2 1/2 inches over center at the 100 yd. target I seen them f/s on auction sites new for under $150.00 from time to time also the firehawk is the same gun with a few changes

Mine's a Winchester X-150. Don't use the 150 gr loads, but it fits me perfectly and shoots great. I've made two one shot kills (both deer dropped in their tracks) with it the only two years that I hunted with it. Didn't get out in the early season last fall, but expect to this year.

I can see you being a great candidate for gettin into that heavyweight "slip fit" conical craze!!! ;D It took me years of reading & research until I finally bot my White Super 91 .504 caliber. All said about these great rifles is true!!! Check out Docs Site:www.whitemuzzleloading.com/
