All states have knocked down the deer herd to try to curb lyme disease, it is government above the PGC BOCs ,all sll states were told to get the deer under control,...if you google lowering the deer herd to slow the spread of lyme diseasse you will see many government hearings on it and states cutting the deer herd... NOW...they say its the lack of foxes due to the coyote explosion. news.yahoo.com/missing-foxes-fuel-lyme-disease-spread-190344044.html

I guess foxes, skunks, ground hogs, porcupines, fishers, coyotes, and bears don't ever attract ticks.

Buy reading the artical it sounds as the deer are the main host for the disease.

Mice are the primary hosts, along with deer. Due to the lack of foxes, there are more mice, therefore more Lyme, at least that's what they are trying to say.

I did your google search and found no Gov hearings, some articles from local towns and such but no mandate from any government to wildlife department to lower the deer herd.

The Pa. Medical society had house bill 272 or something close to that number brought up and it may have been turned down....it was about treatment for lyme disease...it was on TV....the legislators said it was time the deer were brought down in numbers as the disease was causting billions per year...in medical costs....sorry you did not see it...or was not told.... but there was a agreement to make sure PA. reduced the deer population...in favor by the majority...what bill number or whatever i have no clue.........my doctor knew this 5 years ago...it was posted on HPA and john s said deer would never be cut for lyme disease, well if you look why did all the deer in the east and eastern states get cut back and shot off......to slow the tick process down.....

I suggest we should declare "Open Season" on mice. I suggest 22 LR Bird Shot, no limit to magazine capacity and semi auto approval.
We could allow 22 Short Bird shot in communities for back yard mouse control.
We could also require a Mouse Stamp say at the figure of $5.00.
That would save the deer and help to eliminate the disease. It's a Win-Win situation.

A lot of hunters offered proof of lack of deer and they were ignored. John Eveland offered proof about the failure and shortcomings of the deer management Plan and he goes ignored and ridiculed. The agency created action committees and their suggestions were ignored and the agency disbanded them because the people didn't agree with the agency. It sure seems that anyone, no matter their status or education level who challanges the agency, on any subject, gets ignored, +ridiculed and demonized. What else is new? ?

And this has what to do with the topic? I asked for links to what the OP posted. His statement is outlandish and ridiculous. that there were hearings and all wildlife agencies were directed to cut the deer herd due to Lyme disease. I know Everland is your hero, Heck I remember when the Unified was your hero ( I think you were even one of their Grand Pooba's) Until you had your falling out, Everlands credentials are questionable at best. Why didn't he and all his answers testify?

Do you call it hunting today when slobs shoot from vehicles, ride there properties on ATVs and shoot off them. Or sit over kill plots and shoot a deer headed to the refrigerator? I could go on and on. But to stay on topic WHO is asking these states to let sharp shooters and all these deer hunts that are designed and made for the purpose of killing deer to curb lyme disease? Not being smart just telling you that the game commissions are not making these hunts to slow lyme disease in CT and other Eastern states. and many other states, its groups going to there Governors and getting the wildlife agencies to have the hunts. Like i said read some of the articles i personally have talked to a Governor who had lyme disease his self 6 or 7 years ago. There has been plenty of hunts for the purpose of killing deer to slow down lyme disease over the last 10 years. Most made possible by going through government first before the wildlife agencies. bangordailynews.com/2011/08/25/outdoors/islesboro-voters-approve-killing-400-deer-to-help-prevent-lyme-disease/
