My friend Bob and I once again made a trip to Erie. We met up with dknappy at our usual place in town. The fishing wasn't as good as usual, but it still beats a lot of days fishing around home. We were going to fish for perch and walleye. I told Don that I wanted one thing-- a 10lb. walleye. We started trolling for eyes. It was slow going, but we had a hit on one of the planer boards. With Don's coaching, I was able to boat, to me, the biggest walleye in Lake Erie. Was it 10lbs? We'll never know. Some things are better left to the imagination. I will tell you this, if it wasn't 10lbs, it didn't miss it by much. I did measure it and it was 28 inches. We lost another eye at the boat that looked bigger than mine. After that loss, we went for perch. It was slow going and we ended our day early with only a few perch in the well. Thanks, Don, for another great day on the lake. We'll try again next month. Then I'll be shooting for a 16 inch perch.
