If the PGC wanted to change their title from the Pennsylvania Game Commission to the Pennsylvania Wildlife Commission would you be concerned?

Amazing!!! This forum is alive. For a while I thought the forum had died.
But as for a name change, the PGC attempted to change their title back in the 90's. It was vigrously contested and the agency gave up on the idea basically because of the influence of hunters.
Fast forward to today and I'm not sure if we hunters could beat back any such change in the title of the agency simply because the agency is becoming less and less dependent on hunting license money and more independent because of the Marcellus Shale Gas money.

several other states combine the fish and game aspects into one organization would that be as bad changing the name to "wildlife". i belive that they handle more than just game animals.

awww thats not the answers CH was fishing for..... Actually RWJ you're somewhat correct. In fact if you read Ben Moyer's article you'll note how he refers to you Game Wardens as Wildlife protectors, when in fact your chief concern is Law Enforcement. "Wildlife Protection's (formerly Law Enforcement) role is admittedly vital....." The truth is Wildlife Conservation Officers haven't conserved the Deer, Pheasants or Quail. One has to wonder what you've really conserved other than Law Enforcement under a different title. As Moyer notes in his article, the monthly field reports written by PA Game Commission personnel are primarily made up of VIOLATIONS. Is it little wonder that the MAT Commission labeled the PGC as a Law Enforcement agency that did a little wildlife work? Changing the title of a Game Warden to Wildlife Conservation Officer was a prelude to the effort to change the PGC title to PA Wildlife Agency. Fortunately it failed.

Thats your opinion, its wrong, but still your opinion. WCO's spend about 25% of their time on L.E.

I respectfully remind you of the MAT Commission's statement.
"....the MAT Commission labeled the PGC as a Law Enforcement agency that did a little wildlife work?"
I didn't make that up either.

I started just after that and I remember reading that, I am not sure what they looked at but a few years back they pulled all the time sheets and totaled up the hours according to coding, and it was something like 25% of a WCO's time was spent on LE, the rest was animial complaints, HTE, Info and edcuation, wildif;e management and Land management
