Last evening around 6:00 pm I was sitting in a ground blind debating on leaving when all of a sudden a doe and two yearlings come sprinting out of the brush toward the edge of an uncut corn field where I was sitting. All of a sudden they stopped and started stomping and looking at my blind, well after about 15 mins of them being suspicious they calmed down. So I thought "ok ill give them some time to see if daddy is following them". Well nothing followed and I decided I needed some meat for the freezer, so I drew my bow and put my 30 yd pin right behind her shoulder. (Slight quartering away shot at 29 yds). I was a little uncomfortable since I'm not the shortest guy around and I have a bow madness XL which is the long ata version of the bow madness line. Shot was manageable, but I never practiced shooting from a kneeling position. Any way, I released, heard a good thwack shot looked really good to me and I thought I had a big doe down. Well I went and got my arrow but these group of deer had run about 100yds and stopped. So obviously from me leaving the blind to get my arrow spooked them and they were off! When I recovered my arrow which was a clean pass through, it was covered in blood and hair, so I thought it was going to be an easy tracking job. Boy was I wrong. There was no blood for the first 60 or so yards, but when I did find blood it was steady. So I called my wife and we tracked it for about 500 yards until it crossed a creek, after that it took me about an hour to find where she had crossed and find blood again. So we tracked her for what seemed like forever 3.5 miles actually. Finally the blood trail slowed to a drop every few hundred yards, and finally after following the same track for quite a while the blood stopped....... was out till about 11 pm tracking her... What should I do?
