I've been carrying my in-line during regular deer season for the past 5 or more years now. My cf's rarely get used outside of Bear Season.
Curious if any others are usin their in-lines vs centerfires during the Regular Deer Season???

Does carrying the flintlock during Regular Deer Season count? I guess I'll just have to break down and try an in-line, but I also want to try a crossbow, and building a fowler for turkey is next on my gunbuilding agenda. So much to do, and so little time!

I personally cant see that the inline is any less lethal than a ceterfire rifle in a woods hunting situation so i carry one of my centerfires, although the area i hunt in N Y state is shotgun and muzzleloader only so i carry my inline when i hunt NY.

Good point rs. I think an in-line can be much more lethal than a cf in a typical heavy cover woods hunting arena in PA. Better in brush, tremendous 50 caliber energy potential with properly fine tuned heavy loads, but with disadvantage of no 2nd shot, not as quick as a bolt action or pump cf and if extremely wet hunting conditions could have ignition disadvantage as compare to cf ammo. Additionally, you must measure ur load(or select pellet charge combination), select type of 209 or #11, select bullet/sabot combo, stuff load & bullet down bbl and properly seat on charge. Going to wallymart & buyin a box of cf ammo & droppin in chamber is a tad easier but not nearly as much fun IMO. The flinters are even more fun!

Larry, my poor Rem700 280Rem has been sitting in the closet during the rifle season ever since I started shoot White ML's. The only time she gets out is when I take her to the range to see if I still get those 1/2" and on a bad day 3/4 " groups at 100 yds. She still does and looks at me and says, so why have you neglected me??? ;D Last time I took her out I forget how many rounds I fired at 75 yds and all I had was one hold under the size of a dime. I guess its just something about seeing that white smoke fill the air that gets into my blood??

I suppose i am not a blackpowder aficionado because the only reason i own the 50 cal. encore was because i used it in NY ,but now rifles are legal in the area i hunt so i suspect my encore is doomed for the gun safe.

My 30-06 & 300 winnie consisitently bid for spot in the opening line-up during PA Regular Deer Season but never seem to merit a spot. Of course, Loggy is the one that makes the line-up! 300 winnie is especially disturbed since i stripped his VariX-III 3.5-10 off and put on my TC Pro Hunter! ;D Last several years its has been either my custom White Super 91 .504 or my TC Pro Hunter. I love tinkering with different barrel twists, various sabot type/formula modulations, projectiles(custom cast conicals), primers, powder types and there's just sumpin bout stuffin that all important bullet down the barrel with a ramrod with a firm pressure (based on much range testing) that tells ya its ready to boggie!!! ;D

qoute: from loggy's response to rs rs, it takes quite a bit of smoke sniffin until you enter the "state of no return. ______________________________________________________
now with me it was different...i knew the very first time i shot a muzzleloader that i was hooked ;D
to me...theres something about waiting on the smoke to clear that makes it that much more exciting

xbowhunter, it is all right to sniff the smoke from a front stuffer, but for goodness sakes, don't inhale!
