Excellent advice guys. Each year in my area they have found hunters dead because of that particular safety system. The Safety Harness is the way to go. Be safe fellas and ladies. Your families need you!!!!

hear people complain about wearing a harness. but think how your wife and kids will complain about you not being around.

I slid down a tree face first back in the days when you hugged the tree to pull yourself up.I used to only use a safety belt but it's crazy to not wear a harness.

The HSS is the only way to go. I used to not wear a thing and then it hit home a little close with my bosses friend falling out of a tree and being severely injured. The HSS is a little more pricey but then how pricey would it be for the wife and kids not to have you around anymore.

it's the start of another long season. just a reminder get your self a good safety harness and be sure to use it. want to be able to still talk with all the great people here. don't want any bad news about our little family. GOOD LUCK AND BE SAFE. yes i'm screaming at the top of my lungs so somebody listens.

Just purchased the tree stalker HSS harness system last week its a little cheaper than the original but with all the same great features.
After tring it out wondered why I took so long to get one.
As Mrlongbeard has said I hope everyone has a safe hunting season.
remember If it doesn't click it's not a HSS.

I have a full body harness that came with one of my stands. Love it and have never had an issue with it. It fits nicely with all close. I put it on before I put my coat on. Then I pull the strap out the top of my coat. I've hunted all season with it.
I also keep a knife right on my belt in the front right side. Just so it's easy to reach and I can find it easily.
Good luck everyone and be Safe.

Buckslayer, al the box stores (Cabela, Bass Pro, Gander Mt) have them>
Here's a touch of advice along with the harness. Go try them on. One size does not fit all. The other is just what pops423 is talking about. Carry a knife where you can get at it if you should fall. You may have to cut that lanyard if you're hanging.
Here's one for those who haven't used one yet. Use it while climbing with a stand. Don't know how? LEARN. When you get up where you want to be keep the strap around the tree high enough that when you sit down there is just a bit of tension in the lanyard. This should ensure that if you do fall you won't go beneath your stand and will most likely be able to get back on it.
Don't get all excited if you can't turn 360 degrees in the tree without that lanyard interferring. I'll give up those few degrees of shooting angle any day for the thought that it may save my life some day.
For those using hang-on stands, take a look at Summits Climbing System. Essentially a rope that you attach at the bottom and the top of the tree. It has a Prussic hitch attached. When you leave the ground you just attach your lanyard to it and slide it up as you climb. You're attached from the first step to the last (bad term. should have said highest). And you can buy the rope and make your own if you have multiple stands.

the same company also makes extra add ons for the system. they make a climbing system for hands free use, and asystem so your hooked to the tree at all times. best system on the market. but any full body system is better than some of the chest or waist systems.
