Longbeard, that made me laugh, "what happened to being a hunter"...that ended at about the same time as when the PGC ended being a wildlife management agency...maybe the late 70's or so..since then it's been a race to sell more and make it easier for hunter Joe..as for the PGC, where to start with this group of incompetant baffoones...........

One of the worst things I learned in scouting was "be prepared" Unfortunately for me thet means more gadgets. My Dad was always less is more. If his gun held five bullets than that was all he needed. Read a funny saying for backpacking. "Pack 20% of what you THINK you need. Then toss out 80% of what you just packed. Then throw 10% of some luxery item back in." I went to the range to try and gain experience with my flintlock. Put out my targets, got all my loading stuff on the bench, reached for the black powder...guess what I forgot? Grrrrrr! Fortunately in my be prepared mode I always pack some Pyrodex powder. I always admire the less is more crowd, and yet they don't forget/skip the essentials. If it wasn't for being thrifty (most of the time) financially. I would have way to many gadgets...er I mean way to many MORE gadgets

That booger thing looks like the game at every shopping center that slips off all the teddy bears..... As for gagets, im working on a small 12v winch, that i can load up 100feet of 3/16 rope, to greatly make the deer dragging alot easier, for me anyway. its nothing im going to market. but just something to have handy when i want it. It will be a 500lb ATV winch. with a rechargeable motorcycle battery. with a mount that i can ratchet strap to a tree.

Not really gadgets but two things that have made me more comfortable is Muck boots and underarmour gloves and gold gear hood.
I carry very little with me.I have a Gerber knife that also has a small saw for cutting the pelvic bone, extra gloves, grunt call, drag rope, binoculars(never hunt without them),wind checker, water and bow or rifle.Once in a while I take a GPS,depending on where I'm heading.
