There will be three generations of us trying to fill tags in 4C during the early season. My grandson officially joined us last year with a flintlock kit I put together for him. Now, we need to push a doe past him.

I agree, xbowhunter, and isn't it great to be out without six layers of clothing as sometimes happens after Christmas? I've even been known to sneak in a nap under some hemlock about mid-afternoon during the early season.
Having the enthusiasm of a thirteen year old grandson along side helps as well. He's counting the days already.

Due to the decline in the local population of Whitetails, I'll not permit any shooting of does on my property and won't hunt them myself. Same for pheasants around here. I love small game hunting and I'll be out with my flint lock shotgun looking for tree rats and rabbits.

I have antlerless permits for 4C and 5C, and a DMAP for Micheaux SF. Will I attempt to fill all of these? Probably not, because I'll be hunting (on the ground) with a longbow and my flintlock. Do I presume to tell others what they should or should not do during the upcoming seasons? Yes, use your best judgement, and enjoy a good venison stew!

Last year I took a small rack buck and made soup with my 2 doe tags. This year I have my buck plus 2 doe tags thus far and waiting on my 3rd check to be cashed for a new area.....That will allow me 4 doe----or------1 buck and 3 doe...........I plan on taking no more than 1 doe and 1 buck if given the opportunity. Ill eat the 2 extra tags knowing I did my part to keep 2 doe from being shot.
