Have made them fried and pickled, good both ways! I basically use the same recipe for fried tomatoes as I do for fried zukes, italian bread crumbs, dip in seasoned egg(seasoning salt & pepper) batter then crumbs & fry!!

I've had fried green tomatoes for the last 5 out of 6 days... ;D LOVE "EM!! Mama just dips 'em in flour and fries til golden brown in butter. Salt an' pepper,,,,MMMMMmmmm......MMMMMMM!!! She does the same with 6-8 inch cucumbers sliced length-wise. Tastes as close to wild morels that you'll ever eat.

Ive had fried red but sorta favor fried gree. How about you all??? Never tried fried red tomatoes before, not sure that even sounds as good as the greens......like pickling, ripe tomatoes are to mushy, always use green, the more unripe/firm the better!

Watching my tomato plants these past two weeks has been like watching grass grow waiting for one to turn color. Now, you folks describe these wonderful recipes for frying them green! I thought it was just a movie!
