I was last minute getting my fishing things in order and found out the day before trout that I needed a new pair of waders, well I ran out to Wal-mart and just picked up a pair (in a box) I just opened the box to make sure there were 2 waders in there. Imagine my surprise when we drove to the place where we fish, and got out of the truck to get our gear and put on our waders, and that's when I found out that I had 2 left foot waders in the box!!! what the heck, I said! I put them on and went fishing in the creek anyway, it wasn't too comfortable, but hey, I caught some fish that day:)

;DGood one truegrit!
Not me but several years ago while waiting for the 1st day opening bell on Muddy Creek in York County I was below a Dam about 12' high at a nice hole lined-up with other fisherman patiently waitin for the opening!
About 10 minutes before opening a fisherman thought he's outsmart us all who were below waitin to fish the hole at the dams base. He walked across the dam breast to enable him to cast down into the area we waited so long to fish.
Well, there was a lot of slime where he carefully walked across & he lost his footing & fell down into the hole below the dam. With the roar of the water I didnt hear a splash or anything...sorta like a slow motion pic with no sound! ;D
All I saw at first was his hat come to the top then he managed to crawl out on the rocks. He went up to his truck to dry off and warm up & never did come back to fish. ;D
Thank God he wasnt hurt!

As a kid, I always found a way to get uncomfortably wet. Anymore... the stupidest thing changes year to year...

The dumbest thing I did (numerous years) was to tell myself it wasnt going to be all that crowded and actually woke my butt up at 5am to get to my hole. Heck, I am going to do it again this year Scott

Hey Scott, me and the hubby do the same thing as you, but we "actually" think that if it's pouring down raining that we will have the creek all to ourselves!!!

I broke my rod on the second cast of the season about 12 years ago. I didn't bring a backup and I was 30 miles from home.

I don't know if it was the stupidest or the most brilliant, but many years back a college buddy of mine was out drinking the night before opening with his brother, and they hatched a plan. They took yellow caution tape and went out to their preferred spot and taped off the area. His brother then laid down in a contorted position and my buddy spray painted an outline around him.
Next morning they arrived at 7:55am and there wasn't a soul within a hundred yards of the spot.

Stupidest thing I did was while wading the creek I lost my balance and grab ahold of a tree limb that just happened to contain a hornets nest , took me three days to get the swelling down.
