Exempting steelhead, of course....my largest was a 26" palomino I caught when I was 15. It weighed nearly eight lbs....big hook jawed male. Only fish I ever got mounted. I've caught rainbows up to 25" and browns to 22". Never got a brookie over twenty yet.

26 inch 5lb 4oz rainbow taken on the Nak Nek river in King Salmon Alaska back in 1976, that same day I caught a 42 lb. King salmon that took me the boat and the motor back and forth across the river for about 30 minutes before I got it in the boat. That imprinted on me so strongly that obviously to this day I can recall it as tough it happened yesterday.

When i was bout 15 took a 24" rainbow in MD & placed in the Sports Afield Largest rainbow for MD that year. i do remember that one!! Won a Mepps Spinning reel (no longer made) and a gift box of mepps spinners. BTW...caught it on a Mepps! I also remember that i played hooky from school that opening MD trout opener on a Monday. Had to tell Dad since i wanted to brag bout fish. He was pretty eay on me considering catch! Was fishing Deer Creek just across PA line. Alaska...caught 2 silver's in 15-18 lb range on kenai river..

Here's mine. Taken on a #22 Blue Winged Olive on 8x tippet on the Pine Creek in Gaines Pa. I ran it up to the camper for a quick picture because the fiance' insisted, then released it to be caught again another day. Thank You Upper Pine Creek Sportsman. **Disclaimer...that IS NOT a mind altering plant growing in the foreground.

Yep, not a mind altering plant alright....not at all I've caught Rainbows in the 24"-26" range. No pics on the computer though. Biggest I ever got I released, don't like to eat them & only keep a few for my bil to smoke.

Thank You Upper Pine Creek Sportsman. Is that a dig A dig? Heck no. They do great work. They put nice fish in. Nice and pink on the inside and really firm flesh. They smoke up great. Especially those 22 and 20 inchers that migrate down into no-mans land.
