ill admit it might be louder at the bench but never noticed it when shooting a deer and never noticed any accuracy differences..

I've never really seen the need for porting on a hunting rifle. Typically you will not notice the recoil when shooting at an animal. If the recoil is so bad when practicing with the firearm perhaps you are shooting too much gun. While a 270WSM is a true magnum, the recoil is not that severe. A Simms recoil pad might be better money spent. As far as muzzle brake go, an "on-off" type brake is better suited to a hunting arm. The brake is "on" when shooting from the bench and "off" while hunting. Savage offered this and a few gunsmiths also.
The "Magna Porting" type is good for competitive pistol shooters to help reduce muzzle flip allowing them to get back on target faster.
