Thanks! Set it up and loaded some 38spl. I like the "intimacy" of a single stage and will always use one. But so far a progressive seems to be good for large quantities. One thing I've found so far. With a progressive you load more rounds faster but also easier to miss a step since you do multiple tasks before/after each pull of the lever.

Thanks for posting this. I'm waiting for my local store to get a Dillon RL550B in stock, the long wait has made me think of the Hornady AP. The RCBS is out of my price range right now.

I don't have it yet, I'm considering it. If you go to youtube and search for Hornady LNL AP you'll get several videos about it. You can also go to Hornady's website and download the manual. I did that yesterday. The link posted by billt also has some good info on it.

Some folks who have used the Dillons and the LnL Hornady. Compare the LnL to the 650 but less expensive. I can't speak to that. But with a progressive press I've learned the hardway you need to focus, focus, focus. If you forget to up stroke the handle to prime or a primer doesn't feed properly. You end up spilling powder on to and under the shell plate. Then the powder can get under the primer pin etc, etc. Long story short. Keep everything clean. The Lnl is precision made and works great when kept clean. The powder measure is very accurate. Different reviewers give great tips. Such as placing a dowel rod into the primer feed with a piece of tape to mark when the tube is running out of primers. One guy deprimes and sizes in the press then primes all cases by hand for the "feel" then completes the loading process in the LnL. I guess it is fair to say in reloading it truly is different strokes for different folks.

I see GRICE's is offering a progressive and 1000 bullets..for $349.00...now that's a deal and a half, 1000 .44 or 40 bullets will be almost $200.00 these days and some rifle bullets are even more..that would bring the cost of the press to somewhere between $100 and $150.. hard to beat that deal... bet they sell all they have this weekend, sometimes you can make a great buy these days...
