My bf girl was diagnosed with cancer last night, she's only 5 yrs old. The vet gives her 6mths to a year, we found mammary tumors on her last year, had her spayed & a mastectomy done, but it's back, they didn't get it all. Although she's not my breeding or my dog, she's lived with me for 4yrs now & a very sweet girl,& a great hunter, I'm just heartbroken over this.

Sorry to hear that. I would rather lose a friend than a good dog.

Zodiak, So sorry to hear that,my heart goes out to you, my first beagle had the same thing, we had her spayed at 12, she developed the mammary tumors a year later, 4 of them, 2 of which came back cancerous, a year after that she got 2 more removed, she lived until she was 15, then we put her down shortly after, the surgeries were not cheap, but what we won't do to have them a little longer with us.

Thanks guys! Truegrit, we're having the tumor removed next week, maybe buy her some extra time, with her only being 5 it's worth a shot. Also put her on a cancer diet...no carbs(cancer feeds on them), upped her C and some other vitamins, will put her on Essiac also(a cancer "tea" I have seen help a lot)

Very sorry to hear that. I know what your going thru. I lost a springer to the same thing 4 years ago. She was 12 and developed mammary tumors at 10. I had surgery done on her and a year later, she got another, same deal, had surgery again. She made it for another year, but the cancer came back and spread and there wasn't anything the vet could do. Good luck and I hoping for the best for you and your dog.

Dutchess did well with her surgery, now to hope it doesn't come back right away.......her incision is HUGE, poor girl, but she's taking it well.
