You are right mrlongbeard speed really dosn't matter. It does help but not a real big facter for hunting. Quite and smooth is the key to take a deer in archery and if it isn't broke and your happy with the way it is then just let it. Good luck bud!

Most bows these days are so quiet and forgiving you don't need the extra weight. I have a CSS bow that I've been working on for years to quiet it down. I've tried STS systems, heavier arrows, different strings I've built 20-24 strands, etc. That bow I'm afraid just can't be tamed:-) It sounds like a gun going off. The bow is extremely accurate though. My LX is the opposite. That bow is so quiet that I've shot next to other shooters at 3D tournaments. They were still talking waiting on me to shoot. They never heard my bow fire. I don't have anything on the bow other than silencers on the limbs. Nothing on the string. Several Bowtechs I've seen are very quiet also. When I sold a friend of mine a Diamond Bow he shot it for almost 1/2 hour before he decided to by it. The bow was so quiet but he must have purchased every silencing item we had in the store. Now he's complaining that the bow is to heavy for him to shoot. I wonder why?

All in all, a personal preference. I put one on my Trykon XL shortly after I bought it and it won't come off. Now keep in mind, sometimes one must disregard directions. The STS directions tell you to install it a hair shy of the string. What they don't tell you is that many bows need it to be set up differently. Mine works best just barely touching the string at brace, and I know a guy who has his a full 5/8th inch away. My results?
quiet , no noticeable difference speed, gained about 3 fps. ( the leeches are still in the string, also) I could probably gain 3 or 4 more if I removed them. string slap is now a NON-issue. Plus, since it is a Hoyt and required the front mount, it put my stabilizer out to almost 12 inch from the riser, and that really helps balance the bow out nicely.
