Hogs are destructive, and they do breed faster then rabbits. The average sow will have 6 to 12 pigletts/per litter. A sow can come into breeding at 6 months old. They will be here eventually. We can not stop it. Goergia thought they could and blame they have more pigs the people now. My cousin is a wildlife biologist and he told me the latest figures as of december put the PA population around 3k. The major issue hunting them is they are nocturnal. Every state that has them allows baiting to hunt them. There is your next big fight here. To many people in this state oppose baiting. My cousin eximates that there will be a wild hog population through out PA by 2015.

DK, Not all. Just sows over the age of 2. The main worry is not 2 litters/year. Its the breeding age of 6 months. That makes a litter of piglets in march having its oun litter in September! With a litter of lets say 10, and of that litter 6 are female. That could be by september another 60 pigs from one sow!!!!

I didn't know that only those over two had two litters per year. But if we let all these little piglets hit two and their offspring and it goes on and on.
WOW that's alot of shooting.
I've seen the populations get out of hadn in east Texas.

Does anyone have any info on wild hog hunting in PA on farms or private property where they have been damaging crops, etc. Do not want info on hunting preserves. Thank you, Ron
