has the same knockdown power as a 50 caliber muzzleloader and a 12 gauge sabot slug gun, effective ranges of upto 200 yards

WAY - WAY too much for the average hunter...you'd be far better off with a well placed .44 mag or .357 mag than a mis-placed .50... nice to shoot a few times, lots of bark and fire but not needed for the average Joe hunter, if you can handle it-go for it!!..now if you're going to hunt elk, moose or the big bears, go for it!! It's also a little on the expensive side to shoot jacketed bullets, lots more powder also, you can almost shoot twice as much of the others....You can find something else that you'd be better served by, that's for sure...YES, they have their place but it's a small niche' for sure in most hunters arsenal !!

I had the 500 mag with an 8 3/8 inch barrel and It kicked like a mule I had it for 2 months and fired maybe 20 rounds through it. One morning after shooting it i was having severe pain in my right wrist A trip to the ER showed a stress fracture. I put it up for sale that day

:(I shot the 4" alaskan in 500 s&w with the 350gr cor bon full power load , my wrist was sore for days. the man bought it new but wanted to sell it after he fired it the first time. as Frank said it is not for everyone.
