Boy ! I got to give it to Remington on this one .. They have really stepped forward.....I'd like to get my hands on the action..... I think Remington have done the gun owner a big favor, at a time when most are bailing out they try something new. MM

That rifles been listed for a few years now, I know of no one who's actually layed an eye on one...my only question is why would they mess with it when there's so much more they could do with their own design..the 700 action...

Maybe they are looking at cost to produce the 700 action. The 98 has been proven over years thatit is and most likely the best reciever for the money made..... This may well be Remington's way of improving the 700 action.. (Just bring out another action all together) .... Either way I'm glad to see it and hope it goes over well for Remington the sportsman needs it. I'm wondering if parts of the other 98 (Military) are interchangeable?
I got my hopes of getting hold of a action and build a 338-06 on it... Military 98 are get far and few between and lets face it they are sure getting old and stressed. MM

THEY have been listed on their website for a few years..I do not believe they are built by BIG GREEN, they are importing them from someone overseas....I do believe if my memory is correct they are either exact copies or very similar to the originals..I'll do a little reseach and let you know shortly...check out their website and take a look at them...

American soldiers brought it back from both world wars, and America’s oldest gunmaker is proud to bring one of the most trusted bolt actions of all time – the Model 98 Mauser – back into mainstream production. That’s right, you no longer have to rely on military surplus supplies or high-cost custom gunmakers to get your hands on this classic.
Long revered for its superior strength, smooth, reliable cartridge feed and inherent accuracy, it’s now available from Remington in a wide range of modern calibers. And we reworked these rifles from butt to bore to meet the aesthetic and performance demands of today’s hunter and shooter.
New for 2007, were offering a Model 798™ in weather-resistant stainless steel. These new Model 798 offerings are available in chamberings ranging from 243 Win through 375 H&H to cover all your hunting needs. Our original long-action Model 798 features a richly blued barrel and receiver. All feature laminated stocks with receivers drilled and tapped for standard Mauser 98 scope mounts.
Expect dependable, controlled round feed and positive ejection, rock-solid durability with exceptional reliability. Influencing the design of virtually every bolt action made today, the Model 98 Mauser never died. It just needed a revival. We’re sure you’ll agree our version was worth the wait.

Took a look at the web site.. I couldn't be more pleased. Hopeful that Remington will see the *light* and sale just the actions if that is what a fellow want.... Just think take that action and add your favorite barrel, nice piece of wood a good trigger if needed and you have yourself your own master piece... And maybe a the right price............ Wow! I'm dreaming......> ;D MM
