COME ON FELLOWS...we need alot more participation to make this fun..our 3rd classic cartridge will be the .270 winchester..BOY, all I can remember was "It's too FAST" for deer hunting..I remember those words spoken by my father back in the 1960's...he never saw a ballistic's table, that I'm sure of..only owned one myself..in a BROWNING BLR...bought it from a guy who owned it for a few months..I myself owned it for about a year and it was gone, never cared for it myseld..the gun and the cartridge...OK men, have at it...BOY there used to be alot of arguements at many of my local gun clubs when I was a kid about this..maybe we can get one started here...hopefully

I was never a big .270 fan. I is a great mild round, but I belive the 7mm Rem Mag, and 30-06 are far better guns. Alot of people like the .270. i just think they are overrated balistically. Bullet selection is not very good at all. If you dont have time to handload all you havew have is 3 bullets to pick from 130, 140, and 150. If recoil of the above 2 mentioned rounds is to steep. Then the 7mm08 is again a far better choice!
I've got a lot of calibers but I hunted with a 270 Remington pump and love it... Never had to look for anything shot with..... Just a 30-06 necked down... About as much difference between 30-06 & 270 as there is between a dime and ten pennies.... Some books cllaim 270 shoots a little flatter... I don't want to get hit with either one with the right shooter...... ;D MM
You are not the only one I had a 7.62-39 tear a hole in me... I just said I don't want down rangr with a 270 or 30-06 with a good shooter either one would do the job..... Post said a dime or 10 pennies.... Made no difference... Just different numbers... MM

a better round is the 270 wsm. a lot more bang and more loads to chose. my father always shot the 270 winchester. he killed more deer than most with that round. also a big fan of the 280 Remington basically the 30-06 , 270 win and 280 all in the same class.

i love my 270. i bought a cheap rem. mod. 700 from walmart, put a laminate stock on it, it sure looks good now. it was very accurite with cheap federal ammo too. i have yet to shoot anything with it yet but i`m sure it will perform great.
