SURELY we'll get some comments about cartridge number #5...the .243 Winchester !! I remember when I was a kid my brother Tom showing the ole' man a picture of one, what are you going to do with that, scare em' he exclaimed..laughing like an ole fool'...that little pip sqeek couldn't hurt a fly, a wounder if I ever saw one..that's about the way many ole' timers viewed this new comer on the deer hunting scene.. I think personally I've heard more bad about this cartridge than any other one..they are capable of incredible accuracy, that much I know fur' sure...a great dual purpose round if they ever made one! OK MEN..have at her...remember, the good and the bad !!!

The little .243 is one of my favs------I have it chambered in a Remington model 7 and it is a shooter!!!!!!!! I always thought it was too small for deer until deer I shot with it started falling over stone dead!!! I used to have a magnum mentality and now I like the less punishing calibers. Encore28

I've had two .243's but never seemed to get anything while hunting with them.

I have a .243 and I usually get a deer everyyear with it...unless i get em with my bow:) Ive said it before, its not a gun with more power thats gonna get you a deer, its the person behind the gun.
