Don't worry...it won't be long until they make some rifles that we all might buy!! It's all about calibers and cartridges and rifle designs..they've all been stuck on .223's, .204's and 22/250's for a long time...how many can I buy...we need some different offerings big time..REMEMBER, they are wanting the military contracts..we are all heading toward the semi-space guns faster than we think..they also bought DPMS.. and we all know the money exchangers that bought them all...CORPORATE AMERICA comes to the hunting woods...

IMO...a good union vs some non-firearms manufacturer or Investment Holding Conglomerate gobbling them up.
Interesting News Release:
Madison-based Remington Arms Company will buy Marlin Firearms Company. The two historic gun makers look to close the deal by next month. In a statement released Wednesday, Remington officials said the acquisition will strengthen the company's position in firearm sales.
Remington is the only company in the country to manufacture guns and ammunition. Its customers include sportsmen, law enforcement agencies and the U.S. military. The company was founded in New York in 1816 and relocated its headquarters to Madison in 1996.
In 2004, the company reported revenues of about $393 million and distributes its products to more than 55 countries.
Marlin Firearms is based in North Haven, Conn. and was founded in 1870 by John M. Marlin. The company's most notable products are the Models 39 and 336, the oldest shoulder arm designs in the world still being produced, according to the company's Web site.
Marlin is a family-owned
company and also owns Harrington and Richardson, New England Firearms and LC Smith brands of rifles and
shotguns.
"I am pleased to announce that Marlin's well-known brands, with a long heritage of providing quality rifles and shotguns to hunters and shooters around the world, will join the Remington family," Remington CEO Tommy Millner said. "The opportunity to combine two historic U.S. based companies with such storied and proud histories, is both challenging and exhilarating."
Rockingham County Partnership President Graham Pervier said, though it appears the purchase will have no direct effect on the local economy, he is still pleased with the news.
"It's just good to see a company headquartered here in Rockingham County doing well enough to expand through acquisition," he said.
Pervier said having a company as large and well known as Remington in the local economy helps put the county "on the map." He added he hopes the gun maker will consider building in Rockingham County if any new manufacturing sites develop because of the deal.
Remington operates plants in Kentucky, New York, Arkansas and Ohio.
Bob Behn will remain president of Marlin, Millner said. The deal is pending regulatory approval. The details of the acquisition were not released.
