Many times not needed but what do you carry just in case?? I normally carry 4-5 of the CVA 4-in-1 Loaders. Found this one to be the best so far (as of today ;D ) CVA 4-in-1 Loader AC1509 Clear see through design. Can use as bullet starter, powder measure, palm saver and two compartment preloader.

RMC EZ loader. Works well though the plastic piece that rests agaisnt the palm when starting the load broke. So I had to modify.

I still use a loading block and those soft, rubbery tubes (not quite PC). Once I found the powder charge my .54 seems to appreciate, I cut the tubes down to within 1/4" to 3/8" so the soft cap comes down over the top of the powder charge. The big danger of loading for a quick second shot is snapping off your ramrod as you attempt to force your patched roundball down a fouled barrel. I have first-hand (and punctured hand) knowledge of this danger. Make the first shot count!

Berks, when i was talking to colerain barrel he said he loads up some speed loaders etc. with a .530 ball & lil thinner patch(.010 or .015 vs .018) to help in that reload. Mines really tuff loadin on fouled bbl for sure!
I never tried it but just loaded 5 speed loaders with the .530 & .015 patches. Hopefully, that first .535 knocks that hog off his feet!! ;D
I will be bring both .530's & .535's along so if you want any...i have plenty.

Loggy, that is a good suggestion, and I will fill a second block with .530's and .015 patches. Now, if I can only grab the proper block as a wild-eyed, wounded, wild boar makes his assault.......!
This is similar to those brave, Pa. riflemen after they had fired at an advancing line of "lobster backs", with their Besses brandishing bayonets! Should I run, or do I have time to reload?

;D I noticed when the hounds are on them...we are the least of their concern. "One on One" without hounds with a bad hit or miss...well i'd say grab the right reload, load quiclkly & hope that agitated hog didnt zero in you!! I dont think out runnin one is an option...least not for me! ;D
Kiddin aside, last spring when my #11 cracked (misfire) those hogs darted like a bat out of hell down the mountain. I really dont think they would attack unless you got one cornered or if one was especially hungry! Hopefully, they are all fed up! ;D
