reading an article on scopes and wondering what size objectives you have on your scope. a neat test for your scope before you buy or if thinking of a new one. try this. have a flashlight and a white paper, pencil and ruler in millimeters.shine the light in the eyepiece and hold the paper over the objective lens. the circle of light. this is the effective aperture of your scope. circle the light and measure it. if it's 5mm you have a good low light scope. if it's less then it's not a good low light scope. the reason is the eye is right around 5mm at lowlight. so the same size or larger makes for a good low light scope.
