Now that we have the flint problem solved, we have another with this 777 were using. We have had great luck using it down the muzzle, but when it comes to using it in the flashpan it is terrible. 10 minutes after sitting in our pan it picks up the moisture from the air so fast, it wont burn!! I was told I should be using the old ffff black powder in the flash pan that it doesnt pick up the moisture as fast as the synthetic stuff. Whats everyone using?

Even black powder will absorb moisture and become black goo after enough exposure to humidity. However, that is unusual. Some substitutes are certainly more hydroscopic than others.
There are also some items that can be mixed with flash pan powder than helps keep things dry. I forget the names of the commerical preparations that are sold. Simple Lycopodium powder will work. As I recall, it is the pollen from the Lycopodium plant and it is so resistant to absorbing moisture that it is used in highly sensitive physics experimnents. Some of the powder is mixed with the 4f and used in the pan, still goes off just fine.
I have tried some of the substitutes and stick with plain old black powder. easier than trying to adjust loads and measures, etc.
