Well, the season isn't too far away and this year will be special for me. This year my 8yr old son will be tagging along. I got him set up with a single shot 20 ga that I bought some years ago in hopes that this day would someday come. He's been practicing with it and I'm confident that any bushytail that comes in range isn't safe. My concern is that it's been some years since I went out looking specifically for squirrels. Could anybody point me to an area in SW PA, preferably near little Washington, that I could take him to that would offer some solid opportunities for him to not go home empty handed.
Thanks in advance!!!!

don't know any area's down there but any good stand of oaks or beech should produce some . try early or late for best results.

I used to have a couple of good private places as well as one or two gamelands that used to be good but Consol and the PGC had loggers come in so a lot of the mast producers were taken out. I guess I'm just going to have to do some serious scouting in the next few weeks.
Thanks!

Can still recall the first tree rat I ever shot when dad took me out for my first small game season, bet 50 years from now your son will remember his first one, too. Best wishes and thanks for continuing the heritage.

Dennyf, I sure hope he does. My dad didn't hunt but we fished a heckuva lot together. One thing I can honestly say I'm proud of is both of my kids respect and love the outdoors. My daughter has no desire to hunt but she loves fishing and that good enough for me. I'm one lucky guy.
