Hi there , Does anyone use this type of bow here ? I'm thinking about trading in my compound for a cross bow. My back is to the point where I can't sit straight or stand let alone walking so I figured maybe this kind of bow will allow me to recline in my stand and shoot while sitting much easier. I hate the thought of not being able to hunt this year .
Are they pretty accurate ? I know there expensive , but I figure if I sell my Martin and save a little I could own one of these bow's . Any imput to these bows would be appreciated.
Thank you for replying to this in advance . Ridge

I've had mine since the second year they had the permits. Killed a bunch of deer. I assume you are talking about a permanant built stand. Here's what I've found over the years:: Great for use in a permanant built stand with sufficient room to move around. OK in a portable, but almost impossible to re-cock for a second shot, unless you use a crank or lever cocker. In either type of stand you must be VERY concious of your lateral clearance so the limbs don't strike part of the stand when you shoot. They're heavy. They're noisy, but can be quieted somewhat like a regular bow. Either use regular bow type peep sights or a scope. I personally would stay away from a red dot as they are hard to get on the target in bright sunlight(hard to see the dot at times). Do NOT attempt to use a regular scope. You'll eventually shatter the insides except for maybe a very few high dollar ones.(the manufacturers will even tell you that) Don't expect any more performance, accuracy, distance, than a regular compound. Use very light fixed or expandable broadheads, say around 100gr. Some of this is stuff I've experienced and would /or would not, do in the future. Personal preferences will vary. AND, above all, practice, practice, practice

I spent a little time in the woods but mostly building and re-building stands and not really looking for sign. I got a big doe opening morning. Haven't seen any horns yet.

Congrats thumper , hey you can't eat the horns right ? I love the meat , I draw a doe tag every year , actually this year I have 2 doe tags . Gotta keep that freezer filled for the winter.
Hope you have good luck filling that buck tag this year , I think this cool weather will get em moving again.

Just bought a 10 point crossbow with the Excaliber pull string , very nice bow $539.00 at Clearfield, Jims sports center. I couldn't pull the string back on the other bows and couldn't afford to pay $700.00 for a crank system . This allows people with back problems to bowhunt , thank you inventer of the crossbows . The bow itself is pretty noisey , I bought a silencer kit for it and it still makes a racket ,but very fast .. Watch out Deer

xbowhunter- Boy you were right , yesterday morning a small doe came within 2-25 yards offering me a clean kill shot , as soon as I fired the bolt traveled clean through the Deers vitals. I thought I missed so I waited 3 hours in my stand before I looked for my bolt , found it where the deer was standing covered in blood. Found the deer 30 yards from where she was standing . My x-bow is fast ! I love it
