Went out to a local game land today for the pheasant opener. I had one of my gsp's, Belle, with me, we got a break in the rain for about 45 minutes. Other then that, it rained all day. There was a group of hunters running there beagles on the side hill for bunnies, they provided me with some great singing. I heard quite a few shots from them, I believe they had a pretty productive day. Needless to say we didn't find one pheasant, I'm not sure if they even stocked there. When Belle did finally hit a point was I pleasantly surprised when a woodcock flushed instead of a rooster. I dropped it and when Belle was out making the retrieve I heard one flush right behind me, luckily I already reloaded, and swung and dropped it also. So far this year: 0 pheasants, 0 grouse, and 3 woodcock. I had 2 grouse flushes on opening day but none bagged. I didn't get any pics from the hunt on Saturday because of the rain. I did get a pic from a hunt I had on Thursday after work with Buster my 12-1/2 year old gsp. The old man still has the nose and the heart, eventhough the legs are a little shakey. Buster made a nice point and as I was walking in to flush it I seen the birds droppings(poop) all over. After 2 shots Buster made a nice retrieve to hand. I'm thinking about blowing off work on Monday to get out some more!!!! Buster and I after our hunt on Thursday.

How about sending me some pheastant tail feathers? PM me your addy & I'll send you some. I have one so far & will get more I'm sure, you just want tails??? Opening day: Rained most of the AM & qite windy. Got to a local SGL, saw a couple guys working a field with a setter, no flushes.......beginning to think they didn't stock but didn't feel like driving elsewhere so we went in. Put up a hen almost immediately, no one was ready, ooops. Bird was in the open grass, Chase was standing it (Johns dog), it flushed wild pretty far out ahead.(runner) Got another point 20 minutes later, 2 roosters flushed, I got one & John or Seth dropped the other, sent dogs for retrieve & a hen popped too, it was missed. As we got to the end of the field, 2 more hens popped - flushed wild when they hit the open ground. No shot. Worked around the field, got another point from both dogs, hen, dropped it. Put up another shortly after & got it also. John, Seth & Darrell had to leave........I stayed longer. Tara soon had a runner, she roaded it to some brush & pinned it. I missed that one but had another about 15 min later & got it, another hen. It was only 10:30, so I decided to hit the woods for grouse/woodcock even though there are few grouse around here, had 3 more phez finds & one woodcock, which I missed, UGH!! Thought I was on a roll, LOL!! Went home aorund 12:30, not a bad day even though it was wet & chilly. Worked today, heading out tomorrow - will post up pics when I can. (supposes to rain tomorrow too & my rainpants got ripped already.... )

zodiac, PM sent! "PM me your addy & I'll send you some. I have one so far & will get more I'm sure, you just want tails???" THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. By the way hunters..... all hunters... for all kinds of animals... deer, phez, turkey, squirrel... you can sell a lot of your furs to various fly tyers and fly shops. Real animal furs and feathers are at a premium $$ now. This is what tyers/fly shops want: Deer body hair (back and belly), deer tails, squirrel tails, badger, bear fur (big $$$$ right now), FOX (out of this world $$ for red and grey fox), turkey feathers: tail, biots. Matched sets of duck wings with large feather quills. Muskrat fur, beaver fur, blue jay feathers, cardinal feathers, starling feathers... you may want to post this elsewhere on this site? Just a thought.
