Yeah, but that was with their trusty SMLEs, not the Pattern 1917. Both nice looking rifles, zodiac. Never had much of a yen for 1917s, but sure do like the 1903s. Next to my M98 Mausers, they're my favorite bolt rifles. Minor bit of rifle trivia: Remington made some modifications to the 1917s they made during WWI and produced their first commercial bolt action rifles, the M30(?). Forget, probably in the early 1920s? They retained the same dogleg bolt handle that the 1917 had. Came across one once with a Lyman receiver sight and almost bought it, but tumbled for something else. Love old rifles, seldom get excited about all the new stuff available today. Newest rifle I've killed a deer with in the past 10 years, is a 1951 vintage Marlin 336 carbine. Even the M98 action on my heavy barrel 25-06, is older than that. My first deer rifle was a 1920s vintage M94 in 32 Spl. Still have it. Until my son started hunting again a few years ago, moslty carried the M98 in 8x57 that I sporterized for him years ago. That one was made in 1939.

Gracias. I am now officially an old goat, with the paper work to prove it and eligible for the SS gravy boat.

Very cool, both were made in 1918. It did tell me that my '03 was in the batch produced with the improved heat treatment which is good....info I was looking for, thanks!!!!
