Got up at 5 AM......loaded up to drive to ANF for opening day & my alternator died about 4 blocks from home.....no hunting for me today, I could cry, I can't get out this week at all. Oh well....guess it's a good thing it happened close to home since I had 4 dogs with me, was able to get home w/o stalling out.

Ann, Sorry to hear about your van breaking down, I know you were really looking forward to hunting grouse this morning, at least you were not too far from home when it happened. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Thanks Colleen....got it fixed around 12....managed to get out to a friends camp by Warren around 2:30, hunted about 4 hrs. Had a good time though, put up about 17 grouse & missed 'em all!! ;D ;D I'm on a roll....

I went out yesterday for a couple of hours. Flushed three, missed one of them. Hard hunting with all the leaves still on.

btexpress, 2 for 3 is pretty dang good on grouse!! I put up 27 one day last year, most over points from the dogs & didn't bag one!!

It was all luck. One flushed and flew up a logging road and the other flew along the edge of a field. This was only the fourth time I got two in one day.

I don't have a dog, so I have to get after them. I go places that scare alot of people. Very thick and alot of hills.

We've been averaging between 12 and 27 flushes/points when we go out. Last year a few buddies hunted down by Clarion & put up 35 in one day.....3 got limits. Rural Valley by Kittaning is always good too.

Tim, anytime you & Colleen want to come up for a phez/grouse hunt, you're more than welcome! This Sat we plan on starting the day with a phez hunt & heading out for grouse after 11 or so. Woodcock are in also, put up a half dozen of them last night. (I don't eat them, so I don't shoot them)
