All you grouse hunters, What shot do you prefer for grouse only??
I use to swear by my 12 guage 7 1\2 shot because I figured that was kinda in between as far as a pattern goes in the thick stuff but decided to go back to 6 shot again after some really stupid misses on my part.

I guess it depends on the cover I'm hunting and how far out the birds are jumping.Seems this year they're jumping out too far ahead for some reason so 6 shot seems like the right shot.

Same thing here rich, 6 shot. Birds jumpy where I hunt also & 6 also seems to cut through thick cover better than 71/2.

when i get out to hunt them i will put 7.5 or 8 first followed by two rounds of 6. also will carry mod. and i.c. tubes so i can use what ever the birds dictate
