As the range master at the groundhog matches I get to see everything made shoot at 200-300-500 yards under benchrest conditions...those Savages take a backseat to no one...they are among the best out of the box rifles made and usually for a fraction of the cost, but they do shoot...the quarter bore only lack great bullets...rarely do you see one at any type of match because of this.....get yourself some BERGER bullets and see what it'll do...I wouldn't be surprised if it shot 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards, adjust the trigger down carefully and safely and have at it... great rifles for the money...

I bought one of these for my son in 30-06 and its just under 3/4" at 100 with me shooting. My son is coming around though now that he sees his gun is accurate and isn't afraid of the recoil. I agree with Frank, you have got a great gun.

Went with the Burris steel mounts ......should be here tomorrow The scope is going to be a temporary choice........seeing that this is a used gun I opted not to spend a ton on the first scope until I get it on the range and see how it shoots The scope is a Tasco 2.5x10x42 Target/Varment W/True mildot reticle
