Thanks UC. I just called & spoke to Dan's wife. Dan was out hunting...i guess moose. ;D
She gave me a price per 100 plus shipping cost. Said Dan just recently received the molds.
I want to make sure I get the right thing that you said chief tested.
Should this describe your .504 bullet to order ??
.504 UC Shorts (443 grain)

Either that or the DWB group buy mold - he might not have seen or appreciated the name I gave it.

UC, when I spoke to Dan's wife today she seemed to know exactly what molds I was talikin about. Really neat for you to draw up the specs and have LEE make the molds!!! Congrats on your accomplishment!! Hey, if chief gets good results...that all i need to here!

Loggy, for a White with a 1:24 twist, the Greenhill formula would calculate a 1.56 inch bullet. Those UC Shorts would certainly be an improvement over those little P-ant 250 grain store shelf bullets, but for long range shooting you should go even longer and get a more ballisticaly efficient nose. Good thing it has all that weight behind it, that flat nose has more air drag than a round ball. Put a Postell nose on that baby and you'll be ready for a 1,000 yd Creedmore match.

but we want THWACK!! The length of the design was limited by LEE's maximum length capability for 2 cavity molds. I pushed the .90" limit about as close as I dared. You are right in that a longer bullet would ideally give better performance but so far these little "lightweights" are doing very well and, for the cost of the moulds, you can't beat 'em. It has more bearing surface than many longer bullet designs, which is also a big plus IMHO. Greenhill is just a thumbrule and doesn't take into account a lot of factors that can influence performance. But I still haven't shot my own design - nor anything else lately.
