BLACK, you must be into some serious handgunning my friend.. these cartridges are hand cannons to say the least... I'll bet the balistics to this one aren't much different in pure energy than the average deer rifle.. Ole' JD has done some serious homework, also the handguns need some work also to beef em' up.. that .411 should be capable of dropping just about anything on the planet, including elephant.. That cartridge should be in the 1900 fps area with a 300 grain bullet.. you do the math... man that's alot of power from a hand cannon!!!!

The Contender barrel started life as a 41Rem Mag, Ole JD rechambered it to 411 JDJ. It is a 444 marlin, necked down to 41 Cal. I haven't loaded anything yet ,but I plan to shortly. I need to order a set of dies, and I'll be ready. The SSK barrel has a factory installed (SSK) muzzle brake, that should tame it down a bit. frankinthelaurels, I found one load and it launches a 300gr bullet @2050fps. not too shabby. I believe it would be a good close range round, for larger bears, moose and elk. I'll keep ya posted.

Yeah Ole Izack new what he was talkin about. Frank there are guys out there with 45-70 Encore hand cannons, the 411 can't be any worse for recoil and muzzle blast. I'll just have to put the Death grip on the grip, grit my teeth, squeeze my eyes tight and touch one off ! lol
