Im getting ready to buy my (almost 9 years of age daughter) a crossbow, Though I never owned one I think they are the percfect weapon to teach a child and start them out hunting with, especially since she is a little gun shy when shooting her .243. But since I never owned one, which make and model do you suggest? Im leaning towards the new Parker Cyclone or an Excalibur Exocet but any recommendations would be welcome. Thanks, Pike

Take a look at Horton's Team Realtree Ultralite. Weighs 6 1/2 lbs, balances well for a smaller person. Narrow width. I held one at the Harrisburg show. My wife held it, likes it, wants one. She's 5'-5".

I'm partial to the Excal Exocet but the Horton and the Parker are great crossbows as well. It comes down to what feels right to the shooter. pike Your wife might want to try the Excalibur Phoenix.

visit your local archery shops and try as many makes and models as you can. ask questions about anything you can think of.what type of sight, hip or bow mounted quiver, cocking devices, ect. there are alot of creeks in your area that have big carp so an xbow that that you can rig to bow fish with might be fun for the 2 of you. above all,be careful teaching her,my wife has been shooting mine for 2 years and still forgot about holding it properly once last fall and got her thumb wacked by the string.
