Early this fishing season I decided to try fluorocarbon line. I bought a spool of 6 lb. Berkley Vanish. Worst line I ever tried. I don't know why, but I lost a few fish because of the line breaking. Fishing the river, I get a lot of snags. Even with my noodle rod the line would break after a couple of jerks on the rod. Was I tying the wrong knot? Is there a certain knot you use with fluorocarbon line? I always tie a Palomar knot. I switched back to Fireline, which is the best line I've ever used and have had no problems. Any suggestions?

I use nothing but Vanish and have no problem at all
Do you wet the line when pulling the knots tight?.........The friction created when tightening the knot weakens the line , if you wet it it reduces the amount of friction

I currently use vanish quite abit. If it werent vanish currently (price is right compared to other brands of flouro)Id be using another brand. I absolutely swear by flouro. for jigging & bait fishin'. It also doesnt have the stretch of mono, so when a fish is hittin' light, it feels twice as hard. Never had a problem with strength, as its just as strong as any other mono ive used in 4 and 6 lb. Its so much clearer in the water and ive seen and definately has better abrasion resistance than mono. Id never fish anything else for line sensitive species in clear water.
I and fishing buds have caught some very good fish of several species on only 4 lb. test vanish. We set drags light as with any light poundage line, and tie palomars most.
