Overpriced scam in my experience. It's been proven that you can't regenerate carbon clothing in a drier. The carbon in a boot really can't be put in a drier anyway so even if the science behind it was sound,it wouldn't be able to regenerate.A few years ago,I bout a non-insulated pair of boots from cabelas with scent lock. After a few years, they smelled so bad I had to throw them a way.
Have him buy a nice pair of Lacross or Mucks.I have three different pair of muck boots and wouldn't want anything else. They don't do good with briars but other than that, they can't be beat.

Dad was a trapper when i was a kid, and he, as well as many of the old time trappers swore by rubber boots back in the day. Was one of the reasons he also used them for archery, and I started out with them for archery hunting many years ago, and have had no reason to change.
Early bow season, all i wear is a couple thin very light pairs of Lacross.
For scent control, i wash the insides once in awhile with a scent killing clothes wash , and between washes, sometimes toss in a little baking soda. I also like to kick back the leaves and scuff the soles around real good in some damp fresh soil or even a cow patty if theyre in the area (just not too fresh!) before walking to my stand.
As for the boots in question, if your son wants em, why not? I dont think theyre all they are cracked up to be as Doug states, and the price is a bit steep, but if it keeps him happy go for it, i dont think its gonna be something that probably makes or breaks his hunts.
